Dating Disasters: Saga of a Single Girl - Let the Adventure begin...

This new year, I decided I really needed to start dating again. It wasn't like I consciously decided not to date, but I never prioritized it! And when you're in lab working and studying as much as I am, and you haven't met someone through your graduate program...dating and meeting people very quickly gets put on the back burner. That's not a bad thing - but I don't have an extensive dating past either. And I would argue I don't have a clear picture of what I want either.

So I decided to give online dating a shot. I have heard both horror stories about it, and great things! My motivation was to simply meet and date guys for a few months with the goal being that I learn a little bit more about what I'm looking for in a long-term relationship. If I luck out and actually meet someone worthwhile, GREAT! But, I really just want to put myself in a position to date and meet people and experience different personalities and see what I like. And well...

It's been comical to say the least.

After telling some of my ridiculous dating to stories to friends, they decided that I REALLY need to blog about it. Why? Because these stories are ridiculous, hilarious, and actually at time insightful. Why the hell not?

So, with that - I'm kicking off a NEW series of posts called...

Dating Disasters: Saga of a Single Girl

I've been on some of the most awkward dates of my life. I've been on some of the best, which were subsequently followed by a great guy rapidly deteriorating into an asshole. I've met guys who legitimately wouldn't take "No I will not sleep with you" for an answer. And I've met really needy guys that have made me realize that guys have just as many insecurities as women do.

It's been enlightening, ridiculous, empowering, and disheartening all at the same time. And reflecting on some of the dates I've been on, sometimes all I can do is shake my head and laugh!

And if the reactions of my coworkers and friends have been any indication of the cosmic ridiculousness that is my dating life, I figure the rest of singledom should laugh with me!

So, here we go! Get ready for some hilarity...and don't you DARE hesitate to comment with your own ridiculous dating stories! ;-)
